Final Exam
Project One: Altered Portraits

1. This project is the altered portraits. We did this at the beginning of the year. Some of these photos were really easy to alter and photoshop and some were difficult.
2. I didn't chose this style of photography. It was assigned by you. It was interesting and it was the first time working with people this school year. Ive worked with people before but I still had a hard time working with people.
3. The images above were successful because I actually knew how to edit them in photoshop. They were simple and easy. They only required a little bit of editing.
4. The images below were not as successful because some I didn't know how to edit right. Maybe the brightness was too bright for the gritty portrait. Also with the cracked face, I don't think i made it shape to the face right.
5. I would shoot this project again with my own camera to make these images more successful because I wouldn't have to share one camera with multiple people. I think I felt rushed with sharing with others because I knew they needed to take pictures too. Also I would of studied on how to alter images better. I jus need to take my time with projects.
6. This project helped me learn how to edit pictures further than I usually do. I usually just turn up or down the brightness or mess with the contrast or exposure maybe even mess with the saturation of the images. I don't edit photos drastically. I learned how to make a face looked cracked, color an image black and white, create a gritty image and even change the filter of an image.

Project Two: Blur Motion

1. This project is Blur Motion. Every time an object moved we shot the object and the image would come out blurry but it looked kind of cool. Looked like a ghost. Some came out odd and some came out decent. This isn't my kind of photography.
2. I didn't choose this style. You assigned it to us. It was an interesting project.
3. The images above were kind of successful, not the greatest but better than others. They don't look as bad as the ones below. I could of done better.
4. The images below weren't as successful because they don't have that much quality to them. Like I said this isn't my kind of photography.
5. I would have other people help me with this project. Im not too comfortable with the people I shot with. I guess I just don't work too well with other people because Im shy. If I get another chance to do this project again I will try better to work with other people.
6. What did this project help you learn about photography? Explain your new understanding. This project taught me blur motion and how to get a blurry photo. I never new how to do blur motion. I think it was interesting as well.

Project Three: Forced Perspective

1. This project is called forced perspective. Its making a small object bigger than it is and a larger object looking smaller than it is. It uses depth of field and different angles. Also something called the sweet spot to make everything in focus instead of having it blurry.
2. I didn't choose this project. You assigned it to us. I thought this project idea was quite fun. I mean I didn't get too good of images but I still found it cool.
3. These images were successful because they came out as if the objects were that size. It has an illusion to it.
4. The images below weren't as successful because they didn't give off that illusion that it was supposed to. Also some parts came out blurry and they weren't supposed to
5. For this project I would come up with better ideas and edit them better. This project needed a lot more time because it took a lot of people to create image that looked good.
6. I learned how to make a subject look bigger/smaller than its actual size. You put a subject farther away or closer to the camera. The person has to stand still so it doesn't come out funky. Also this project took patience because there was a lot of retakes going on.

Project Four: Still Lifes//Advanced Lighting

1. This project is called still life and Advanced Lighting. I did the advanced lighting before you said that we didn't have to. It was a really cool project. With the still life I put multiple random objects together but not too random to where the image didn't make sense. I put objects that looked like they would go together. The advanced lighting I put lights with objects.
2. I didn't choose this project, you assigned the project to us. I did like this project a lot and I would like to do it again. It was fun to come up with ideas for the project. With the advanced lighting I actually used colored tape and put it on my phone and turned my flashlight on on my phone. I didn't have the colored bulbs. I also bought the string lights for this project.
3. The images above were successful because they gave good quality. I can see what they are and they're in focus. They have good contrast and have nice shadows. I honestly think this was a good photography project for me. I got some good photos. The saturation is perfect for me.
4. The images below were not as successful because some parts weren't in focus or the background wasn't too great. Parts of the images could of been better. Like the flower one, I could of done something else rather than the flower one. It seemed too simple for me. It wasn't a horrible photo but it could of been better.
5. I would shoot this project to make it more successful by taking photos of something else. Maybe get some popcorn and 3D glasses and make it into a movie still life. Something creative.
6. This project taught me how to put random objects together and getting a good image with objects that don't make sense to put together. Also this project taught me how to use colored lights for the advanced lighting. Turns out I like to use lights (colored lights).

Independent Project One: Sunrises/Sunsets

1. This project is called sunrises and sunsets. I woke up everyday around when the sun would rise and took the photo. Then around the time the sun would set I'd go outside and snap a photo real quick. There were days when I would like the photos and I would take too many photos to just get the right one. It takes me a while to get a photo I like.
2. I chose this style of photography as my first independent project because it was the first idea to come to mind. Plus I love sunrises and sunsets. I think they're really pretty and breath taking. Some days the skies are gorgeous. I think its fascinating how the sky changes. Like in the mornings the skies will be orange or a really light blue. Maybe even gray because of a storm. I like to get pictures of the skies to remember how beautiful they looked.
3. These images were successful because they have great saturation. I think the saturation on the images are really vibrant and outstanding. I think with pictures of the sky, the saturation needs to be enhanced a lot. My favorite image that I took was the second one. I have three others that look like that. The colors just pop out a lot and I think its amazing.
4. The images below weren't that successful because they look boring to me. Im not sure why I used them when I had more than enough photos for my project. They didn't seem too appealing to me. Maybe I went out too late to capture a good photo. Maybe the skies weren't as great as they were the other days.
5. I think this project needed a lot of time to get greater photos than the others. I thought this project was great overall but others can differ. I could of also went outside at different times and waited for the perfect time of day.
6. This project taught me how to wake up early enough to get a great image. Like with the second photo above, I had to wake up pretty early to get that image and it ended u being my favorite photo. Plus it was really cold that day and I suffered through the cold to get the photo. I think its worth fighting the cold and getting up early to get a great photo.

Independent Project 2: Nature

1. This project is called Nature photography. I went to the zoo and to a pond to get these images. I thought it would be nice to get out and take picture of animals and it gave me something to do.
2. I chose to do this style of photography because I like to be outside. I also like animals and I was wanting to go to the zoo anyways. The thought of going to the zoo is great.
3. I think these images were successful because they have good composition and great saturation. I always like to increase the saturation when I edit images. The first and third images, I increased the saturation because the images were too dull. I think I had a lot of great images in this project. But these were my top four, especially the lizard. It has good color to it.
4. The images below weren't so successful because they don't have great quality. Take the first image for example, its not bright and good looking like the ones that are successful.
5. To make this project more successful I would take multiple images and compare them to see if they look good and if one is more appealing than the other. If I take multiple pictures I am bound to have at least one good one.
6. This project taught me to really observe my photos that I take. I also learned that I should take many photos and choose the one(s) I like the most.

Independent Project #3: Flower Aesthetic

1. This project is called flower aesthetic. I bought flowers from the store and set up the bathroom as my photography room for this project. I used a warm light for this project. With the flowers I cut the flower off the stem. I filled my sink up with water and put some of those bath bombs that color the water and I placed the flowers in the water. I made some bubbles in the water the best I could. This project mainly dealt with flowers.
2. I chose this style of photography because I thought I could set up my own set for myself instead of having it done for me. For example when I did the nature photography everything was already there for me. With this project I had to set up my bathroom, fill the sink, buy the flowers, etc. It gave me a slight challenge.
3. These images above were successful because they show great quality. They are really vibrant. The flowers just look really nice to me. My favorite ones are the first and the last ones.
4. The ones below were nice but they ended up looking like ones I've taken already just at a different angle.
5. I would use different flowers and different colored water, even more bubbles to make this project even more successful. I would probably even use different lighting.
6. This project helped me understand that Putting something together is so much better than it already being there. If I put something together myself I get to have it the way I want it .

Independent Project #4: Cemetery Photography

1. This project is called Cemetery photography. I basically went to a cemetery. It wasn't my best project ideas. It was more rushed than anything. But I'm sure you could tell. This isn't my favorite project I did. It was rather boring. I will not be doing this again. Im sure I could get better images if I were to take my time and have more than two days to get this project done.
2. I chose this style of photography because it was a last minute idea. I changed my idea from fire photography to this. The fire photography was not working for me no matter what I did. I went outside with fire and it was too windy. I was in my room and there was no ventilation. So the next day I went to the cemetery and took photos. I wanted to go to the rundown train station area but there were cops blocking where I could get in. I thought about sneaking in but I was not about to get in trouble. I thought those photos would of been nice and better than the cemetery.
3. The images above were most successful because they were the more decent ones of the bunch. They were alright photos. Not too exciting. Like I said this project was boring to me. I shouldn't of done this. They're not the worst photos but I know I could of done better.
4. The images below weren't as successful because they were even more boring than the ones above. They didn't have that feature where you just look at it and say thats a good photo. They're dull to me.
5. I would take my time with this project to make it more successful. The whole project was just rushed and Ive never rushed a project before. So I was surprised that I did that. Also I would think of better ways to get images of a cemetery.
6. This project helped me learn how to take my time and give myself time to come up with another idea. This just wasn't a great project. Next time I will be patient and give myself enough time to get images. Although for being rushed to get these images they're not too terrible.

Independent Project #5: Dark Photography

1. This project is called dark photography. I used my fake miniature moon as a light source. This is the first time I did self portraits and I actually liked it. They were fun. Better than taking pictures of other people. I also used my tv with no available channel. It gave like a poltergeist feeling when I did that. I thought this was my most successful project yet. I also used a setting in my camera called the toy effect or something. It just creates a dark ring around the images.
2. I chose this style of photography because I like dark images. Im not one to do bright images. For example when I edit photos the brightness gets turned down. The contrast will get turned down. Like a lot of saturation though. My editing skills aren't the greatest honestly. Maybe its the darkening. But my intention for this project was to have a creepy feeling. I like creepy images. I wanted to do more with this project but I think I need more people involved and usually I like to work alone. But this project was great to me.
3. I think these images above were successful because they have amazing quality. I really like these images. They are dark and have nice saturation. They're not boring. My favorite one is the first one. Considering the fact that this was my first time doing self portraits I did quite good.
4. The ones below weren't as successful because they didn't say 'wow' to me at least. I mean don't get me wrong I like these but not as much as I like the ones above. I don't really have anything bad to say about the ones below. I really like this project.
5. I would probably take more images to make this project more successful. Overall I think this project is great. To me at least. I would probably use string lights and maybe have a model instead of using myself for this project.
6. I learned how to take self portraits of myself while doing this project. I was having a hard time with positioning the camera. But I eventually got it.I learned that I really like this style of photography and if I get the chance to do this again I definitely will and go above and beyond for this. This summer I will give it a go again.

Independent Project #6: Low-key Lighting

1. This project is called low-key lighting. In this project I sued a fill light, a reflector, and a subject. I also used an effect thats called low-key lighting. Ill admit this isn't a great project I've done. I could've done better. This project is a style of photography thats necessary element in creating a cloudy effect. It throws areas into shade while fill light or reflector brightens the shadow areas to control contrast.
2. I chose this project because it was similar to my last project. Its dark. I figured since I really liked dark photography I would do something similar. Although I kind of failed with this project. I didn't do it on time and I was rushing to get images before it was due.
3. The images above were successful because they actually gave that cloudy effect. They're not too bad. My favorite is the first or third image. I always find myself using that skull or glass ball. They make good images. These images just stood out to me more than others diid. I guess they were better looking than the others. They're not the most exciting photos that I've taken but they were better than the rest.
4. The images below were not as successful because they're boring to me. They do have that low-key effect but they aren't appealing. I wasn't too thrilled about this project becasue of the way it turned out. I know I could've done a lot better.
5. I would make this project more successful by adding portraits to my work. I think this would of been more successful with portraits. I would've done self portraits. I probably would of went outside to an ally with someone of course, and gotten low-key lighting using a lamp post.
6. This project helped me learn how to do low-key lighting. I learned how to set up the fill light, the reflector and where to put the subject. You can actually use an open door and have that light source come into the room where the subject is and not have to have that fill light in the room with you. Next time, when I get the chance, I will try harder to get better images for low-key lighting. I know Im capable of getting great photos, I just have to try and not rush myself. But I know I will be coming back to this style of photography.
